Klondike Kate's Restaurant & Saloon
About This Spot
Klondike Kate's Restaurant & Saloon is one of those comforting neighborhood treasures where the energy pulses with a genuine, easygoing spirit. Nestled on Newark’s Main Street, it greets you with a warm, inviting buzz — the kind you find in a lively bar & grill that still feels like a familiar living room. Whether you’re stepping in for brunch bathed in morning light, settling into the spirited late-night scene, or gathering for a festive dinner, the rhythm here strikes a steady balance between relaxed and animated.
The atmosphere blends a sense of tradition with seasonal joy, evident in the thoughtful holiday décor that wraps around the rustic charm of the saloon. It’s the kind of place that welcomes groups of friends, families, and those seeking a casual bite after a day exploring. The outdoor porch seating, when the weather allows, adds another layer of laid-back comfort, connecting you to the Main Street vibe just outside.
Dishes here don’t compete for attention but instead blend into the warm, communal mood — sharing a plate of loaded nachos or savoring the familiar crispiness of buffalo wings alongside well-crafted cocktails feels like slipping into an easy conversation. Brunch offers a comforting variety, from the sweet and savory dance of chicken and waffles to the heartier, satisfying undertones of a Philly cheesesteak skillet. From quick bites to hearty meals, the food feels approachable, fresh, and designed to hit that perfect note of homestyle satisfaction.
Late-night trivia, weekly specials, and live music infuse personality into the space, making each visit feel like an event without the pretense. There’s a friendliness woven through the service that sits just right — attentive yet unhurried, welcoming without overwhelming. In every detail, Klondike Kate’s fosters a sense of local identity, a place where moments are shared over good food, a well-poured drink, and the kind of laughter that lingers long after the evening winds down.

We love making Klondike Kate’s one of our stops when we’re in town visiting our daughter. The vibe is fun and friendly. Always seasonally festive. Lively bar area. Outdoor porch seating seasonally available. Menu is simple, and dishes are always fresh. 11/29/25 - had a great dinner of comfort food. New menu items: meatloaf BLT and Tortellini & Spinach soup. Both were delicious and hit the spot on a chilly night! The vibe is always festive this time of year. So fun!

I have no complaints. Even though the UD kids were home for the holidays, it was still busy. The Eagles were playing also. The host got us a table right away. The food was excellent especially the Nightmare Before Christmas menu. Our server did a great job. And the pop up Christmas theme decor was super cute. It was a great experience.

Beautifully set up for Christmas. Great holiday menu. Cocktails were well made. I had an egg shell in my eggs Benedict, but other than that, the food was good. The sticky buns were delicious. Service was excellent minus the manager. We had a vodka substitution for one of the drinks that they did at the bar prior to being seated at a table. At the table the manager stated they weren't able to make the substitution due to the bar being "slammed". The resturant was full, but no more full than when we got there. In the end we were able to have the substitution, so why fight with a customer that was willing to pay extra? Overall a good experience.

My partner and I shared the nachos and our server, La’Brian, was outstanding. Our order was taken almost immediately after we were seated by the hostess, our drinks were refilled promptly, we were checked on frequently without being bothered and the service was very friendly. The food was great and we also loved the holiday decorations! Kate’s will always be a Newark go-to.

We were on our way down to Newark to go antiquing and decided to stop into Klondike Kate's for a change of pace and try their brunch. We ordered their chicken and waffles and a Philly cheese steak skillet with two eggs. Both were very good and we would order them again. Only feedback would be that I thought the home fries should have been crispier and they were a bit over seasoned. I really enjoyed the St. Patrick's day theme.

Nice holiday theme for the season. This was the Grinch theme and they did a great job. The menu was nice and Grinch inspired and for the children they had a room where whoville is and you can take pictures in a sleigh and also with the Grinch and max. Nice place overall

Had dinner here on a Saturday night during the summer with my husband and daughter. My husband had the chicken pesto sandwich. My daughter had a garden salad with grilled chicken, and I had the chicken & avocado caprese salad. The food was great. The service was prompt and friendly. We also had fried pickles as an appetizer. The restaurant was cute but the parking was terrible. Thankfully parking was free until August 10th so we didn't have to pay for that horrible spot.
